Place:

Just famous! Woody Allen filmed part of Broadway Danny Rose here and tons of celebrities must have been there — if you believe the photos on the walls.

Not a lot of space around the tables.  Even though it is often crowded and you might have to wait for a seat (avoid weekends) it is a place with a lot of atmosphere:  Waiters and waitresses are fun to watch, there's some real characters!

Food:

Just gorgeous!  But not cheap ...

The sandwiches are famous (The Woody Allen: $ 13.95, the pastrami & egg is also really good, $ 9.45) and you'll leave the place with a doggy bag. Cheese blintzes with sour cream ($ 10.95) or chocolate fudge layer cake ($ 5.95) make an excellent breakfast.  Whatever I tried there:  I liked it — except the pickles that you will find on each table.

Service:

Just entertaining!  Did I ever see a youngster as waitress here?  Not that I can remember.  Most are just darlings, but not all of them.

Overall:

Just my place!  Whenever I visit Manhattan you'll find me at Carnegie Deli at least — hmm, several times ...
