Place:

Don't miss out on Dingle!  But don't try to find accommodation on an early September Saturday:  No way if you don't have a reservation.  Dingle was packed!

So I crossed Conor Pass in clouds and fog when it already got dark (see picture below) — no hope to find any place to sleep within miles.

Then suddenly it happened:  Through the fog I saw a sign and found this magical little country house hotel.

House:

The house was built in the early (?) 18th century.  In the 1960ies it was turned into a hotel.  It did use some refurbishment in 2002 — but somehow that "old look" added to the charm of the place.

Food is served in the veranda.  The nice garden is a good place to read a book and have a glass of French rosé.

The bar is a wonderful place to relax with an excellent Irish whiskey or Guinness.  You can sip it at an open fireplace.

Room:

Tasteful and comfortable!  I decided to stay for three nights a minute after I saw my room.  And it had a view!

Food:

Excellent!  Crutch's offers half-board — book that! Everything else would be a waste!  The Fermoyle Room Restaurant uses fresh local products mainly.  Veggies are welcome. 

I was really impressed.  Don't forget:  This is not France or Italy!

Service:

The place is run by the McDonnell family:  Nice people, a warm welcome and always a smile.

What else:

During my last visit to Ireland I was excited to stay there again — but the place was closed for a few weeks.  I was really frustrated because I drove by and everything was locked up.  So you better call ...

Overall:

A must!
