When I first visited Rome in the middle of
the 70ies this was where I stayed — and it became an everlasting
love: The Ghetto and the area around Campo de' Fiori are my
favorite neighborhoods in Rome.
Unfortunately many people feel like this —
and so it is hard to find a reasonable restaurant in that area
these days: Too many tourist traps around the lovely Campo.
Il Portico is an exception. This typical
Roman ristorante in one of these typical small streets is a gem
compared to the fashionable restaurants where some
super-friendly jerk tries to talk you into the place.
