Festival El mundo 08

Award for best Photography

The judges agreed:  Frank Jermann was awarded the prize for best photography.  The photographs shown in his digital multimedia show New York City — City Pictures were chosen between 13 competitors.  Bernd Henrichs, product manager at Leica and appointed member of the German Photographic Association handed over the reward.

"New York was very creative photography, very innovative photography", said  Bruno Baumann, author, photographer, film-maker and president of the El mundo 08 jury.

The festival organization commented on the show:  "Frank Jermann painted a paranoid image of New York after 9/11 and won the award for best photography with impressive pictures."

The photographer did not expect the award because he was not sure:  An adventure festival and New York City − would this be a good match?

Other contestants challenged the desert on bicycles or made breathtaking experiences in Afghanistan.  Frank Jermann started his show with the words:  "Strangers want to avoid adventures in a metropolis because they are very often related to crime and trouble with authorities."

Nevertheless the jury awarded his work the prize.  Frank Jermann sees this as another stimulus for his photography as well as his new and exciting way of digital presentation.  "Innovative" was heard after the victory ceremony rather often.
